Time is flying by faster than I can keep up! I cannot believe the months have come and gone so quickly. Since my last update there have many things that have happened. During the month of May I was able to go to Oklahoma and spend some great quality time with my family and friends. For those of you I was able to see, it was such a blessing to be around you all. I got some much needed rest and was able to refuel and get back here refreshed and ready to hit the ground running.
Upon my return, we immediately got back in the swing of things. We had a group of 5 ladies from the Land of Hope attend a women’s conference and among them there were 11 kids that needed a place to stay. So we split the kids up in 3 homes and took care of them for the weekend. It was the first time for all 11 kids to see Antigua. It is only an hour away from where they live but they saw many new things the two days they were here. Their weekend was full of food, getting new swimsuits, swimming, more food, church, seeing a mime, and a lastly a little more food. We did have one kid that wasn’t able to hold down the food plus playing hard all day and my house was the lucky house that got vomited all over. I had to become a mom and realized how unprepared I am for that! Haha. But it was truly one of my all-time favorite experiences I have yet to have. The women at the conference had a great experience and were blessed greatly. And the kids are still talking about their weekend in Antigua 6 weeks later. God is good!
The summer months bring so many wonderful things, especially teams and other visitors. We have been blessed to meet lots of new people as well as get reacquainted with others that have been with us before. The work has been plentiful and we are seeing God’s faithfulness daily. Starting in June we have had an average of 2-3 soup kitchens a week, lots of donations of clothes, toys, and Bibles, a medical clinic, Bible Classes, and more. It is such a blessing to see God working in this community. All praise be to Him.
As always we do need prayer. And lots of it. God is moving and doing amazing things and we are facing so much that tries to deter us almost constantly. Protests that close down multiple entrances into the city of Escuintla, hostility among the people that live on the Land of Hope, rumors, gossip, illness. These are just a few of things we have faced in the last 6 weeks that try to steal our joy and keep us from being able to work. Our prayer is that we have the mind of Christ and we don’t allow these things to hurt us, get us down, or cause us to be angry. All of these things that come up are opportunities. Opportunities to utilize the gifts of the Spirit. Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Gentleness. Faithfulness. Self-Control.
I pray that the Lord blesses each of you greatly. I pray today you find the peace and provision you long for, whatever it may be. He knows our needs and desires for us to dwell in His presence so that we can be in communion with Him and receive the abundant life He offers to each of us. Rest in Him. He is faithful.
